Sedum Morganianum-Burro's tail aka Donkey's Tail, Live Succulent Fully Rooted ships in Pot, House Plant for Home or Office Ships Bareroot

$10.00

The succulent is also called Burro's Tail, Sedum, and Donkey Tail Cactus by its common names. It is called sedum morganianum. Ships in 4inch plastic nursery pot.

People often mistake this plant for a sedum burrito. The leaves of the traditional sedum morganianum are more pointed, while the ones of the sedum burrito are more rounded. Both look great in hanging baskets and need the same care and growing conditions.

Even though it is called "donkey's tail cactus," sedum morganianum is actually a succulent, not a cactus. (Not all succulents are cactus, but all cactus varieties are succulents.) When you look at how the succulent grows, with long, hanging stems made of green leaves, it's easy to see how the common names came about.

How to take care of Burro's tail"

Burro's tail plant needs light.

This type of sedum can be grown inside or outside. It grows best in bright light with some shade, which brings out the color of the leaves. It doesn't like it when it's too hot, and if the leaves get too much sun, they can get burned.

It will do well in a south-facing sunny window indoors. My kitchen gets a lot of sun, which is great for the plant.

But if you don't give the plant enough light, the nodes between the leaves will get longer. This means that the thick leaves won't be as close together on the stems, ruining the look of the donkey's tail.

Keep burros tail away from drafts, but giving the plant cooler temperatures in the winter may be just what it needs to get flowers to grow in the spring.

The best times for plants to grow are in the spring and summer, when the weather is warmer and the days are longer.

During the winter, the plant grows less than it does in the summer and fall. Keep the Donkey's Tail plant in a cool place with less light and water it less.

When to water a burro tail cactus

When the top inch or so of the soil is dry, water the plant. You should water this way all year, except in the winter, when you should water less often.

Too much water can kill the plant quickly because it can cause the roots to rot. It keeps water in its thick leaves, which makes it very resistant to drought.

The plant should be watered every time the soil gets bone dry. The plant will dry out faster in a terra cotta pot than in a plastic one, and small pots also dry out faster.

How are burro's tail succulents spread?
Be careful when you touch the plant because the leaves are very fragile and will easily fall off the stem.

If they do break, let the broken end harden and then plant them in a mixture for starting seeds. In a few days, roots will grow, and it will be easy to grow a new plant.
